2024 Valuation Notices for taxes payable in 2025 were mailed by Hennepin County to Shorewood property owners in early spring. If you have questions or wish to discuss your property’s valuation, please review the information below. You may also wish to review a video from Hennepin County about how property values are assessed.
The City of Shorewood uses the Open Book meeting format, rather than a local board of appeals and equalization, to address valuation concerns. The Open Book meeting allows property owners to address questions about their property assessment directly to Hennepin County assessing staff on a one-on-one basis. You may meet with a county assessor to discuss your valuation at any of the following locations:
| Location | Date | Time |
|---|
| Richfield City Hall | April 15th | 4 pm-7 pm |
| Plymouth City Hall | April 17th | 8 am-7 pm |
| Rogers Community Center | April 18th | 4 pm-7 pm |
| Mound Centennial Building | April 24th | 4 pm-7 pm |
| Golden Valley City Hall | April 25th | 8 am-7 pm |
| Virtual | April 23rd | 8 am-7 pm |
Taxpayers with value or classification concerns should call the number listed on their valuation notice to address questions and set up an appointment prior to the Open Book meeting. Valuation notices are mailed in March. If additional attention is necessary, the appraiser will review the property.
If a taxpayer’s concerns are addressed prior to the Open Book meeting and they are satisfied with the results, the owner would not need to attend an Open Book meeting.
If they are not satisfied with the results of their property value or classification after speaking with an appraiser, they may appeal their value to the County Board of Appeal and Equalization.
The County Board of Appeal and Equalization will begin meeting on June 17, 2024. All requests for appointments at the County Board must be received by May 22, 2024. To make a County Board appointment, taxpayers should call 612-348-7050 or email countyvalueappeal@hennepin.us.
