Water

Overview

The City of Shorewood has approximately 25 miles of watermain providing distribution throughout the city to 1,600 connections and 435 hydrants. Connect to City Water

If water is available on your property, you may pay the connection fee or get an assessment. The connection fee is $10,000 for single-family homes. Multi-family and commercial property fees are different. More information found here.

Lead in Drinking Water

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) performs testing for lead levels and other impurities in the community water system on an annual basis. MDH ensures that community water supplies meet standards for lead and require treatment, if needed, to meet safe water drinking standards. Water testing for private wells is the homeowner's responsibility.

Watering Restrictions

To conserve water resources, prevent the wasteful and harmful effects of sprinkling during mid-day hours, and allow the city's water system adequate opportunity to replenish the water supply in the city's water storage tanks, certain limitations must be placed on the use of the city's water supply. During the period of May 1 through September 30 of any year, a person may only sprinkle or irrigate lawns, sod, seeded areas, gardens, shrubs, or other vegetation with city water in the city before 11:00 a.m. and after 4:30 p.m. Watering activities such as play toys, car washing and hand watering of flower beds are exempt, as long as the activity is continuously human attended.
